In 1997, all the Greek associations whose members originate from
the village Misti of Kappadokia collaborated and organized the
first panhellenic meeting of Mistiotes Kappadokes which took
place in Mandra (Larisa area).
Since then, every year Mistiotes-Kappadokes meet in a different
place in order to celebrate, to revive their customs, to perform
traditional dances from the unforgettable lands, and, to meet
new Kappadokes.
An important point of the meetings is the communication which
is developed between the people. Apart from that, relatives
are given the opportunity to get to know each other and it is
true that many of them had never had such a chance before as
they lived in different places after the destruction of Asia
Minor.
Furthermore, the meeting given a unique chance to the citizens
of the host towns to discover a very rich tradition which is
unknown to the majority of the population. In the conference
which organized during the meeting the coyncils of the associations
of Mistiotes have the chance to define their plans, to set common
targets so as to make Kappadokia well known not only in Greece
but all over the world.
